Over thinking Video Games: Ms PacMan

After having a conversation on Twitter about how to pronounce, Taito and Qix. Mister Virtvic of Ten Pence Arcade admitted to us that he called Ms. PacMan, Mrs PacMan. It got me thinking. Women with the title of Ms. these days are divorced. Making me realise, who was she married to before?!

Let the over thinking begin!!!

Do be aware that none of this is real and is made to be comedic, satirical, and humorous.

Ms. PacMan was introduced in 1982; so I can assume it’ll be a male character of a Namco arcade game before then. This leaves with these arcade men!

The first set of suspects in my list are the ghosts themselves; Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde. Could any of these been divorced by Ms. PacMan? It might be a clue to why they’re chasing after her in the arcade game. Why would she die after being captured by them is a worrying thought. It also brings up the question of if Pinky is female or not? Could be male on the same vein as Mister Pink in Reservoir Dogs, or it could be a female, and might have been scorned in a lesbian relationship. Even worse is the thought that they’re ghosts, meaning that they have died at one point. Could Ms. PacMan be a Black Widow, killing her ex-husbands who now haunt her as ghosts!? #creepy.

The next suspect is Mister Taizo from DigDug. DigDug was released in the same year as Ms. PacMan, so this might this be a clue to her ex-husband? Think about it, Mister Taizo here has to go underground and explode Pookas and Fygars by inflating them! Sounds pretty nasty right? Round creatures under the ground minding their own business before some dude comes along, plugs a pump into them, and subjects their to body inflation before death! Here’s the next point; divorce isn’t cheap! It can cost thousands in legal and solicitor fees to get the process of divorce done. So think about it for a moment. Maybe Mr Taizo is in huge debt after his divorce with the Lady Pac, and now he has to exterminate underground creatures in some pest control service in order to pay off his debt! Could Taizo be Ms. PacMan’s ex-husband?!

Now Rally-X was released in 1980, and someone had to be behind the wheel in the game. Could Ms. PacMan be in a relationship with the Rally-X driver? To be honest, any woman can be attracted to race car drivers. There’s a sense of thrill and glam toward race car driving, and the thought that Ms. PacMan could have been the Rally-X Driver’s ex-wife is very possible. She could have been very attracted to a man who would win races over and over again, even though Rally-X isn’t really about racing, but the thought of being the wife to a champion would make any woman’s mind go wild! However, there needs to be a reason for a divorce here. Maybe the Rally-X Driver cheated on her, or Ms. PacMan got tired of the Rally-X Driver being on the track all the time; the possibilities are endless. All I’ll say it’s very possible that Ms. PacMan could’ve swooned over the Rally-X Driver.

Lastly we have the King from King & Balloon. King & Balloon was released in 1980. Like with the Rally-X Driver above, it would be very possible that Ms. PacMan was very attracted to the King. Power and money, I bet Ms. PacMan would’ve loved that! One slight problem though. This King gets adducted by balloons. Just think about that for a moment. Wouldn’t it be pathetic if Queen Elizabeth II was adducted by a balloon? If Ms. PacMan was married to the King here, I bet she’d be very turned off if a man of power was adducted by a piece of inflated rubber! Ms. Pac would just divorce him on the grounds that he’s the most pathetic King ever!

Now I’ve rounded up those suspects, who do you think was Ms. PacMan’s ex-husband? Write it down in the comments below!
