GreatBitVlog 14: Willy’s big awesome box of GameBoy games!

holyGBGAMES

I’m perfectly aware that I’m a lazy son of a bitch who’ll do everything half arsed. Such as release a Vlog on Youtube, but not release it on my own damn web site! Not to mention it’s a pretty big deal seeing as it’s a big box of GameBoy games sent to me from the hella awesome William Culver, the host of the Arcade USA show on Youtube. But let me get this over and done with; honestly though, I should’ve done this a week ago!

Check out Matt the GameBoyle!

boyo

Here’s a Youtuber that you need to subscribe to! Matt the GameBoyle!

He’s got a set of great videos that show off his collection, some game reviews, Long plays of games and some videos on bootleg games too.

Here is Matt’s GameBoy collection! It’s pretty impressive, though he concentrates more on cartridges rather than complete in box games. But he’s got a lot of rarities in there such as the Japanese only Barcode Boy and the Swedish only release Bamse. Continue reading

Presentable Liberty: A third person review

PresentableLiberty

A third person review you say? How would that work? Well, with this thing called the internet and Youtube, a new wave of people are talking about and playing games that have been recorded and posted online. You should know people such as Pewdiepie, Press Heart to Continue, JonTronKSIOlajidebt, JackSepticEye, LazyGameReviews and many others, one of these Youtubers who I really enjoy is Markiplier. Yesterday he released a video that’s absolutely worth watching; he plays a game called Presentable Liberty; it’s one of those narrative driven games such as the Stanley Parable, Dear Esther and the Portal games. However the amazing thing about this game is that it barely gives you any real control over it, and becomes a lot more of an interactive story, where you’re a prisoner who receives a lot of letters from a group of people caught in a horrible epidemic, and you’re one of a very few who isn’t infected.

Here’s the Youtube video, it’s an hour, but worth watching every bit of it. Otherwise you can play the game by downloading it from here.

The GreatBitBlog Announcement, IN HD!

Nintendo Gameboy

I come with some news regarding the future of the GreatBitBlog. In the new year, 2015, I will be taking my website, and begin to work on it full time.

In the last seven or so years, I’ve been struggling to begin a career of my choice, and have been working in retail for a little too long. I went to University thinking that I wanted to be a programmer to discover that it wasn’t for me, I went in search of IT related jobs and resulted with nothing. It’s safe to say that it’s very difficult to the job you want these days; however seeing people like Pewdiepie, Markiplier, GameGrumps, The Game Theorists, and Clint from Lazy Game Reviews, I’m inspired to take on my own internet media job, and use my blog as a hub. If I can’t get the job I want, I’ll make my own job, and I’ll be turning GreatBitBlog into my own company. This means that in the new year, I’ll be releasing consistent content throughout the year, including blogs, videos, podcasts, streams and getting involved in more social events compared to previous years.

What I’ll be doing in the next few weeks or so is make an open conference/livestream that I’ll run on Google Hangouts or Twitch.TV. So if you’re interested, head over to my FaceBook page and keep an eye out for a public event for my open conference.

So what do you think? Do you think I’m super inspired by YouTube stars? Am I going to be a sell out? Write in the comments below!

Check out this dude if you really like the GameBoy!

vinstitle

Recently on Twitter I’ve had a nice trickle of new followers, including someone by the name of @retroga_me. I noticed that he does a few Youtube videos called Massive-DMG, and I giggled a little saying “Heh, just like DMG-01“. But it turns out that this gentleman, just like myself, is a huge GameBoy fan with a huge GameBoy game collection!

Oh but that’s not all! Continue reading

Every GameBoy title screen ever?

pressstart

You might be very aware that I love the GameBoy. The whole theme of the blog alone is a dead give away! Youtuber, NickplosionFX, made a video called Press Start that features a whopping two hours and forty five minutes of GameBoy intros and title screens. It’s “alleged” that every GameBoy title screen is in the video, however, Nickplosion explains that he used Wikipedia and other sources to compile a list of GameBoy games, so he admits that it won’t have absolutely every title screen in the video. But for two hours and forty five minutes, he’s got to be damn close!

My new favourite YouTube channel.

lazy

I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos recently and I discovered a YouTube Channel called Lazy Game Reviews. A YouTube channel that focuses on retro computing and PC gaming.

Clint, the host of LGR, does a few different shows on his Youtube Channel.

This one is OddWare, a show where he reviews and demonstrates obsolete hardware. In this episode he shows of an optical mouse that was released back in the eighties! Who’d thought there was such a thing as optical mice in the eighties! Well, Clint discovered one, and it requires a special reflective mouse pad and a nine volt power supply for it to work. youtube-buys-twitch

This morning, Wall Street Journal rumoured that Google might purchase Twitch.TV for a whopping one billion dollars! It’s left with a lot of mixed opinions. A lot of people on Youtube and Twitch are dubious about this rumour, whilst others see it as an opportunity for Twitch to improve.
