Super Podcast Land Episode 0: GameBoys and GameBoobs?

SuperPodcastLand

The pilot of Super Podcast Land is now out! I’m very excited to release this as I’m now getting back into the swings of podcasting! This is the GreatBitBlog’s Monthly Portable gaming podcast; ranging from Game & Watches to PlayStation Vitas, if it fits in your hands and runs on a battery, we’re talking about it! In this month’s episode, Dave, Vince and I talk about our own personal history with our GameBoys and other portable consoles, talk about our favourite original GameBoy game, get a bit side tracked into GameCube and Pokemon, before finishing off talking about Senran Kagura on the PS Vita!

I want to thank Dave and Vince for being my co-hosts for this great new podcast! I want to give a big shout out to Zackery Wilson who aloud me to use his awesome, Ain’t Got Time to Bleep, track for the intro of the podcast!

Whatcha playing Ian? Dragon Quest V

Dragon_Quest_V_DS

There’s one game series that I’ve always wanted to get into and love, but fail in doing so; that series is Dragon Quest. It’s not that the games are bad or anything, it’s more to do with me picking the game up, playing it for an hour, and then move on to something else where the game just gets abandoned. I known a fair number of these Dragon Quest games, 1 and 2 on my Android phone, 4 and 5 on the DS, 8 on the PS2, and 9 on the DS. However each of these games have not seen a lot of love from me, which is crazy considering that the Dragon Quest games are the biggest RPG franchise in Japan. I’ve really struggled to understand what makes the Dragon Quest games amazing until a set of fortunate events happened.

Whilst listening to the Retronauts latest podcast, where they talk about the DS, Kat Bailey was gushing over the DS version of Dragon Quest V. She explained that it was the first Dragon Quest game she played, and her favourite game in the series. So I thought to myself, maybe I should actually play this game seeing as I have it. I booted it up, noticed that I only played about an hour and fifteen minutes of it before I abandoned it. So I plucked up the courage to play this game, and I’m finally in! Continue reading

The GreatBitBlog Announcement, IN HD!

Nintendo Gameboy

I come with some news regarding the future of the GreatBitBlog. In the new year, 2015, I will be taking my website, and begin to work on it full time.

In the last seven or so years, I’ve been struggling to begin a career of my choice, and have been working in retail for a little too long. I went to University thinking that I wanted to be a programmer to discover that it wasn’t for me, I went in search of IT related jobs and resulted with nothing. It’s safe to say that it’s very difficult to the job you want these days; however seeing people like Pewdiepie, Markiplier, GameGrumps, The Game Theorists, and Clint from Lazy Game Reviews, I’m inspired to take on my own internet media job, and use my blog as a hub. If I can’t get the job I want, I’ll make my own job, and I’ll be turning GreatBitBlog into my own company. This means that in the new year, I’ll be releasing consistent content throughout the year, including blogs, videos, podcasts, streams and getting involved in more social events compared to previous years.

What I’ll be doing in the next few weeks or so is make an open conference/livestream that I’ll run on Google Hangouts or Twitch.TV. So if you’re interested, head over to my FaceBook page and keep an eye out for a public event for my open conference.

So what do you think? Do you think I’m super inspired by YouTube stars? Am I going to be a sell out? Write in the comments below!

Stalking the Retro joins GreatBitBlog!

strian

Yup, that “other” podcast that I do with Jeremy, Willy, and Ben have now moved over to GreatBitBlog!

Jeremy, the lead host of Stalking the Retro, now has his little home on GreatBitBlog on stalkingtheretro.greatbitblog.com. So if you haven’t heard it yet, go over and have a listen! Jeremy’s new WordPress page is a little bit new at the moment, he’ll soon be working on that. Plus his RSS feed will be moving over to greatbitblog host, so there’s going to be quite a few changes happening with future STR episodes!

Want to be a part of a "Debate-Cast"?

Here’s your chance to get into something I’ve come up with. Something that I call a “Debate-Cast”. It goes something like this…

  • I create a debatable subject.
  • I then get hold of some people on Skype and talk about it, and record it as a podcast.
  • I edit, and transcribe the recording onto the blog, and release the recording as a podcast to download.

So… Who’d like to be a part of the first “Debate-Cast”…?

The subject will be…

Are Video games toys?

Head over to the GameGavel Forums for more details, leave a message there or leave a comment below if you’d like to join, I’m hoping to get a balanced number of people who agree and disagree with the subject.
