Post E3 2014 Analysis.

OK, I’ve had my bit of fun watching all the E3 conferences and shows. It’s not time to get to work and talk about the good and bad things about this year’s show.

Microsoft’s show was better this year compared to last year, it was fortunate that it wasn’t all to do with Sports and TV! Typically Microsoft and the XBox being the “First Person Shooter” console, they had to show off the next Call of Duty game, Advanced Warfare, pretty much like Modern Warfare, but now more sci-fi with more drones and flashy lights on body armour. As you might tell I don’t give a damn about the COD series, and personally I wish that Activision would concentrate on something else for a change!

After seeing Forza Horizon 2 and Witcher 3, I saw a game that I kinda knew about through from fake marketing of an energy drink called Overdrive. The game is called “Sunset Overdrive”, and the video starts off being a joke to other FPS games having to take cover behind things and having a character, who’s a bit doucheir than your typical douche-bag, destroy the enemy that trying to attack said “Call of Duty”-like soldier before doucey-Mc-DouceMeister explains his game, and looking at the gameplay it looks really cool. Imagine a third person contra game, but being able to do Sonic the Hedgehog like tricks such as grind rails and run up walls, then mix it up with Left 4 Dead style Co-op where you take out mutants who are simply people who have been drinking the Overdrive energy drink. It’s nice to see some colour in an XBox game! It’s just a shame that this is an XBox One exclusive title. Continue reading

E3 Live Blog

In a few hours time, Microsoft will begin the set of press conferences today; followed by EA, Ubisoft, and Sony. Nintendo’s Digital conference will be tomorrow. What will they show off today? Here’s a list of thing I want to hear from each conference, though personal I doubt it’ll happen! lol ūüėõ

  • Free XBox Live, or at least a cheaper service for casual online players.
  • More variety of genre’s than just FPS games.
  • A smaller and cheaper XBOne!
  • The next Call of Duty game is based on World War 1.

  • Actually admit that Origin was a terrible idea. OK a little harsh, but come on, everyone uses Steam and GOG these days!
  • Announce a new James Pond game, I’m waiting guys…
  • Create a Fifa or Madden game that is based on an annual subscription so that a new version of the same game isn’t released each year!

  • What does the next¬†gen Ray Man look like?
  • Admit that Uplay was a terrible idea and why it’s screwing up Watch_Dogs on the PC.
  • Please¬†have a guest that doesn’t douche up the conference!

  • Final Fantasy XV Gameplay.
  • Demon’s Souls II announcement.
  • WHERE’S LAST GUARDIAN!!!??? ¬†*Hulk Rage*
  • Backward compatibility of some kind on the PS4?

Anyway, that’s my wishful for E3, the live blog will begin below at 9am Pacific standard time.

Duck Tales, DRM Fails and Bioshock Infinite!

Okie doke, I’m getting REALLY rusty on this blogging stuff! Thinking I can do this on a daily basis and only write stuff out on a weekly basis, LMAO! So here’s a round up…

Duck Tails! Whoo hoo!

So yeah, PAX East happened, and there wasn’t a lot happening until a lot of us got a huge¬†nostalgia¬†boner for this!
“Life is like a hurricane, here in, Duckburg…”

I mean seriously, when do you get hype like this for a downloadable only game when it succeeds¬†upcoming¬†Triple A titles! What made this even better was hearing Peter Monlineux whine his little¬†narcissistic¬†face about how this game is getting more press than whatever the hell he’s doing…
Now I originally played this on the GameBoy, but when I got my NES version later on I was surprised with how close the two games are. The GameBoy version has it’s levels shorten down, but the sprites, animation and music are almost dead on to the NES game. But yes, out of the many Disney games that deserve a remake it’s DuckTails. I could say the MegaDrive version of Aladin too, but I highly doubt that’s going to happen any day soon…
Looking at the videos and the livestreams they had at PAX East, it looks like a very good and faithful remake of the NES game. However they’ve made the bosses tougher as they were a little on the easy side on the original NES game.

DRM Fails

Yup, the Games Industry is slowly¬†admitting¬†that DRM is messing up the customer base for games. You don’t say? lol!

“DRM is a failed dead-end strategy”–EA president F.Gibeau. j.mp/EAonDRM Nice! Another one sharing @gogcom‘s views. ūüėČ

DRM is “a failed dead-end strategy” says EA’s Frank Gibeau. What tipped him off? pcgamer.com/2013/03/28/gdc‚Ķ

It’s a shame that it was SimCity(2013) that has caused this. I do like the game, and I haven’t had too many issues with the servers, though it would be nice to easily find a damn multiplayer game that isn’t totally filled, or start a multiplayer game where people join it :/ Still, it’s good to hear from the games industry that they’re admitting that DRM might not be a good idea…

Bioshock Infinite

Oh yes, the lovely Focus from the podcast that I co-host, Stalking the Retro, gave me a preorder for this game for Christmas. Well it came out, and it’s pretty damn good. It’s not perfect mind you, I’ll write up a review as soon as I beat the game, and I’ll tell you what’s not so hot about the game. But regardless of “some¬†negativity”, it’s a pretty damn fun game, possibly the best so called “Triple A Title” I’ve played in for a while.
In the mean while, enjoy some pictures I took in-game…

So yes, lot’s of racism is the game! Kinda creepy to be honest, but this is a¬†portrayal¬†of America in the late 19th century to early 20th century. So racism and right wing religion ensues…¬†

Whine, whine, bitch-bitch, whine. (part deux)

Reminder: We’re sending out #SimCity beta codes in batches throughout the day today and into the weekend. Keep checking your e-mails.

Hopefully I’ll be getting my damn Beta code through Origin… ¬†Though I will have to remember that it’s still a closed Beta! I might not get in, but at least there’s some hope!
