There’s one game series that I’ve always wanted to get into and love, but fail in doing so; that series is Dragon Quest. It’s not that the games are bad or anything, it’s more to do with me picking the game up, playing it for an hour, and then move on to something else where the game just gets abandoned. I known a fair number of these Dragon Quest games, 1 and 2 on my Android phone, 4 and 5 on the DS, 8 on the PS2, and 9 on the DS. However each of these games have not seen a lot of love from me, which is crazy considering that the Dragon Quest games are the biggest RPG franchise in Japan. I’ve really struggled to understand what makes the Dragon Quest games amazing until a set of fortunate events happened.
Whilst listening to the Retronauts latest podcast, where they talk about the DS, Kat Bailey was gushing over the DS version of Dragon Quest V. She explained that it was the first Dragon Quest game she played, and her favourite game in the series. So I thought to myself, maybe I should actually play this game seeing as I have it. I booted it up, noticed that I only played about an hour and fifteen minutes of it before I abandoned it. So I plucked up the courage to play this game, and I’m finally in! Continue reading →
Recently I’ve been hooked to a “Free-to-Play” game called Hawken. It is quite similar to a game that recently came out called Titan Fall, where you pilot a mech and fight off an opposing army. But as Titan Fall is full price game that can cost up to £45; you can install Hawken for free on Steam.
I haven’t posted a blog for a while, so I better do that now! Over the last few weeks (of not blogging), I’ve been playing quite a few games.
Ikaruga came out on Steam a week before my birthday, which was the 22nd of February. This was a game I have been waiting for on Steam, and it magically appeared without Treasure announcing a release date for it. All I know was that Treasure did delay this a little bit due to a problem where Treasure’s staff are Japanese and they couldn’t read the Terms and Conditions that valve gave them to publish their game on Steam. OK OK, I know I’ve been blogging a bit too much about Nintendo recently. So let me talk about what games I’ve been hooked on to. Because if you’ve ever spoke to me in the last six months, I haven’t touched a console in ages… OK I have played some Ouya, but I’m talking about the mainstream stuff here. My Wii, 360 and PS3 are covered in my dust as my PC is currently my platform of choice for gaming at the moment, and possibly the future too as the next generation consoles don’t really appeal to me Continue reading →
Yup, Pinball FX2 has now been released on Steam to be played on my lovely PC. Making my XBox 360 more and more redundant! In fact, if you’ve been watching my streams recently, I’ve been playing a fair amount of the Star Wars tables that I didn’t get on the Xbox 360 version.
